Working offline best practice

If you plan to update more than one drawing or work through multiple drawing sessions, you can keep your desktop connector offline or pause syncing.

Working offline allows you to save drawings without publishing them. Working offline also avoids asynchronous changes from others as you work.

The downside to working with your desktop connector offline is file conflicts; Someone else updates a drawing that you also modified.

Maintaining history makes it easier to combine changes. DWG Compare, edit or restore from History. Under the right conditions, you can merge drawings.

Timing is important. You want to Sync Central:

After you go back online to publish your work, desktop connector may report conflicts. When resolving conflicts you'll want to keep their changes so that you can put both versions in History.

ACC/BIM360 CONFLICT RESOLUTION

For Autodesk Drive, their changes are kept and your local files are sent to the recycle bin without resolution. As desired.

AUTODESK DRIVE

This best practice separates your changes from their changes in History. It also separates conflicts, if any exist after going back online.

To summarize, you want to Sync Central before going offline, before going back online to publish your changes, and after keep theirs conflicts.
