A .dsg
file contains a snapshot of the drawing database.
Drawing data is listed in a table in drawing exchange format with group codes as columns.
DSG files are available for you to explore the drawing database. If you are experienced with drawing exchange group codes and values, you can edit drawing DSG files. See DX Editor for more about editing.
However, most drawing database snapshots are read-only and temporary. They are meant to let you view your drawing database and create patch files.
The DWG file name and other document setting are set in the Drawing Link.
Drawing Sync Grid documents (DSG files) store a snapshot of data read from a drawing.
In the Exchange panel choose Edit (DXEDIT). You can save the .dsp file.
In the Exchange panel choose History (DSHISTORY). In the top panel, select your file. In File History (bottom panel) select an older version. Click DX Edit.
From History a .dxg
extension indicates a cache file that will be deleted over time. DSG and DXG files are otherwise the same.
