Drawing Sync Help

DSG Drawing Database

A .dsg file is a snapshot of the drawing database. The snapshot is a table with drawing exchange group codes for columns.

The DSG document is available for you to view the drawing database. When you are done viewing, you can exit the app without saving.

Unless you are experienced with group codes and values, editing the snapshot is not recommended. See DX Editor for more about editing.

The DWG file name and other document setting are set in the Drawing Link.

Grid Snapshot

Drawing Sync Grid documents (DSG files) store a snapshot of data read from a drawing.

To create a snapshot of your current drawing

Create a snapshot of your current drawing in AutoCAD.

To create a snapshot from a previous drawing

Create a snapshot from History.

  1. In the Drawing Sync panel, choose History (DSHISTORY). The History window displays.
  2. In the top list, select your file.
  3. Under File History (bottom list) select an older version. Click DX Edit.

From History a .dxg extension is used to indicate a cache file that will be deleted over time. DSG and DXG files are the same format.
